Who qualifies for the Michigan Home Help Program?

To qualify, the person needing care must be on Medicaid and require assistance with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, or eating.

Yes, through the Home Help Program, eligible family caregivers may receive hourly pay for caring for a loved one who receives Medicaid.

Michigan’s 2026 rate for individual Home Help caregivers is $17.13 per hour, set by MDHHS and the same in every county. Your total pay depends on the weekly hours approved in your loved one’s assessment. See current rates and how hours are set.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) determines the number of hours per month of paid caregiving the person needing care is eligible for.

Approval time can vary, but with guidance from Mozyne Health, many families complete the process in about 2 months from start to finish.
